It is a major earth quake in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in 2005. It occurred on 8 October 2005, saturday, at 08:52:37 local time . It has occurred due to the collision of the Eurasian and the India-tectonic plates. The earth quake is measured at a magnitude of 7.6.

The earth quake has affected Gilgit-Baltistan and North-West Frontier Province in Pakistan. Up till 8 November 2005, 79,000 people were dead and 106,000+ were injured. The earth quake also caused landslides, which resulted in 4 million homeless in Pakistan. The damage caused by the earth quake is about 5 billion US$. The earth quake also caused more than 140 after shocks and more than 32,000 buildings collapsed due to the earth quake.

The government opened 5 crossing points to make rescue efforts and to facilitate the flow of food and other goods.

I think that I should be glad that Singapore doesn’t have all these natural disasters and we should do our best to help those who are affected by it. Even if you donate a small amount of money, it may mean a lot to them.
